School Development
Planning for Development
Saint Ronan’s, in common with many other organisations, has a five year Development Plan which is reviewed annually and covers all aspects of the School.
The period between 2003 and 2008 was one of intense activity. The Independent Schools Inspectorate as well as the Good School’s Guide both comment favourably on the very significant progress made in recent years and it is pleasing to note that we achieved all that we set out to achieve and more.
The School has now embarked on its second Five Year Plan, the essence of which is to maintain Saint Ronan’s as a medium size, co-educational day school which offers flexi-boarding. We want to protect the current aims and ethos, yet further the quality of the education experienced by the children. As the Harris Building (opened in 2007) has shown for Music, ICT and the Pre-Prep and the Stable Block (refurbished in 2008) for Science, Art and the Nursery, this involves providing even better resources for teaching and learning. This is a key feature of the next few years.
Building work on the new Sports Hall is now complete. This exciting development will allow us to use the Great Space (the School’s magnificent ballroom) as a centre for Performing Arts be they music, dance or drama.
A Tradition of Generosity
Most independent schools are not in a position where they can fund all of their development through their cashflow. Saint Ronan's is no different.
Many of the projects that are detailed in these pages have only been made possible because of the tradition of generosity that exists at the school, and hence the kindness and goodwill of its parents, staff and alumni.
The school is immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years and we hope that the community will continue to help Saint Ronan's flourish in the years ahead.
The Future
The motto with regards the ongoing development of the school is to ‘Mind the Magic’ as well as create some of our own.
