Chapel
One of the main assets of Saint Ronan’s School is evidently its ethos, which is underpinned by Christian beliefs and values. Indeed, the spiritual life of the school is based on a (non-denominational) Protestant foundation, in broad sympathy with the Anglican tradition.
Still, the school welcomes children from all religious backgrounds, and aspires to give all pupils a solid moral grounding.
Children attend weekday Chapel services, which are a time to learn about the Christian faith (and, occasionally, other religions, especially through their main festivals), but also to bond as a community.
By exposing them to such practices, we aim to help our pupils to discover and develop a sense of the spiritual, although there is no compulsion to embrace any specific creed.
The children are encouraged to learn to listen and to reflect upon what they have heard; they are free to express themselves and to contribute to services, particularly through singing, music or readings. They are also invited to be involved in the choice of the content of some of the services.
