Prospectus - Pre Prep & Nursery

Nursery

Saint Ronan’s Nursery provides children with a gentle introduction to school life whilst establishing solid foundations on which they can build.

At 2 ½ years of age children can join the ‘Caterpillar’ class attending at least two morning sessions per week. Attendance can be flexible fulfilling the needs of individual children and their parents. Children then progress to the ‘Butterflies’ or ‘Frogs’ class in their pre-Reception year.

The Nursery provides a stimulating and exciting environment for young children to continue on their journey of discovery and learning. Children develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially at a great pace during these early years and the Nursery offers opportunities to do this through a well structured range of play and practical activities. It also enables children to develop key learning skills such as speaking, listening, concentration, persistence and learning to work together and co-operate with other children.

Pre Prep

Children join the Pre Prep in one of the Reception classes, ‘Hedgehogs’ or ‘Rabbits’ and progress to Year 1 in ‘Owls’ or ‘Squirrels’ and then to year 2 in ‘Otters’ or ‘Badgers’

Children continue to develop their communication, literacy and numeracy skills as they progress through the framework of the National Curriculum. Science, History, Geography, ICT, RE and Art are all taught through topic work and are made relevant to the individual needs of each child. PE and French are taught as separate subjects using different teaching styles to suit pupil progress and ability.

Small classes allow children to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. The extensive school grounds are used daily helping to inspire children and widen their knowledge as well as providing a large space for many varied outdoor pursuits.

After School Club

Children have the opportunity to enjoy the school facilities during after school clubs from 3.30-5.15 pm five days a week. There are a selection of clubs including cookery, science and Arts and Crafts. There is a charge for these clubs which is added to the termly bill.
