Ten choristers attended the inaugural prep schools choral day at King’s Canterbury on Thursday. Twelve schools joined forces with the King’s Crypt and Chamber Choirs to prepare a concert in the cathedral. We were selected for a crack squad of singers to perform an unaccompanied motet by Bruckner, and there were also anthems by Howells and Chilcott to work on with the full ensemble. It was good to catch up with some Year 9 ORs at King’s, and Mr Force had a go on the cathedral organ (he wants one like that in chapel now). After the concert we stayed on to attend evensong sung by the boys of the cathedral choir, which was a memorable end to a splendid day.
