As the class of 2014 are just finishing off their A levels, it was a joy to welcome back Imogen M.

Imogen gave Year 7 and Year 8 a stirring and motivational speech about what she has achieved through sheer hard work and determination. Being severely dyslexic, Imogen struggled in the classroom, but being determined she was awarded a DT scholarship to Benenden. She went from U15D Lax team at Benenden to playing with the Welsh National Squad. She has now caught the rowing bug and, within a matter of months at this new sport, has been selected by British Rowing for their elite programme. Imogen went from being told her A levels wouldn’t be good enough to get an unconditional offer to her first choice University; she also achieved award entry to several top USA Universities. When Imogen was told that she couldn’t do something, it doubled her effort to do it. Imogen was quick to tell Years 7 and 8 that she had had plenty of disappointment and rejection along the way, but it had merely redoubled her efforts to succeed. What a fantastic example to all of us.
