Drama is an important activity at Saint Ronan’s and it contributes to the personal development of the pupils, as well as enriching their approach to other subjects. Pupils in Years 3 to 5 have weekly Drama lessons, and there are a number of opportunities during the year for children of all ages to become involved in performances, be it on the stage or as part of the ‘crew’.
In March 2020 with directives coming thick and fast we were able to squeeze in a single performance of The Jungle Book to the whole school, just hours before we were asked to stop gatherings. The children (at least) got a chance to perform in front of an audience and it was a wonderful show.
This year in light of the restrictions and Government guidelines we are continuing teaching drama in years 3 through to year 5 but will have to postpone our senior musical production until such time as we can combine year groups. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
