The countdown has begun. Art, DT and Computer Science are busy planning the move to their new purpose-built home. This will provide an exciting opportunity for departments to work together to encourage the children to engage and collaborate on exciting projects. This term, children have been reading Hugo Cabret in English and drawing cogs and gears in Art. They are looking forward to building an Automata drawing machine by sellotape-casting a mannequin which will be programmed to move in Computer Science. Robotic eyes have been ordered, ready for use after half term, so he will really come to life. In DT Extras, the children are investigating and assembling automata – flying unicorns and grumpy pigs, to name but two. They are also learning how to create drawings in 2D Design, in anticipation of creating and making gears and mechanisms after half term. Everyone is looking forward to more projects taught in this way. Rachel B has just finished her mixed media Artwork which is painted, inked and waxed on to A2 cartridge paper. She particularly enjoyed using glass dip pens, just like the drawing machine from the book.
