Shell had a fun-packed day today taking part in a series of Roman-themed workshops. We were treated to a variety of Roman snacks: honey cakes, cheese and bay cakes, sesame bread, fresh figs and cheese. The sessions which followed were: a Geography lesson about volcanoes, particularly Mount Vesuvius, during which the children created their own volcanic eruption; a Classics ‘history mystery’ activity, where they identified artefacts and tried to figure out who they belonged to; the third workshop was an art session: the artist Arcimboldo was introduced and the children were invited to make their own classically-inspired prints of vases and statues. Lunch was an opportunity to exchange stories of the morning and look forward to the final session of the afternoon. We are extremely grateful to the staff at Worth for welcoming us so warmly. Gratias maximas vobis agimus!
