Life before Saint Ronan's
After leaving school I studied Psychology & Physiology at Leicester University. After graduation, I took a job in magazine marketing, first at the trade association (PPA) and then as a product manager at Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter magazines. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my stint in the music & film industry, and the red carpets of Cannes, I decided to change tack and re-train as a teacher in Roehampton. I taught in primary schools in London and Hertfordshire before deciding to relocate closer to family. My husband and I took some time out to run a ski chalet in Meribel, before starting our new life in Kent.
Roles at School
Having begun teaching in The Prep School as a Year 3 and Maths teacher, I then took a new role in N&PP. I am now the Otters class teacher (Year 2) and I co-ordinate Numeracy and PE alongside Prep school staff, involving everything from times-tables and Numicon to stopwatches, finishing tape and rosettes.
Away from the Classroom
I grew up living on the River Hamble and, as a result, sailing became a huge part of my life. I sailed in the tall ships race through the fjords of Norway, competed in 420 dinghy sailing and was part of a women’s match racing team on J24 boats. It has been a few years since I took part in competitive sailing but I am still an RYA qualified sailing instructor and have enjoyed introducing my eldest daughter to the joys of Optimist sailing. Having spent some time living in the Alps, I relish the chance to get on the slopes and thoroughly enjoy snowboarding and skiing.
