Life before Saint Ronan's
I started teaching in London before moving to Kent, where I taught at a Pupil Referral Unit. This was followed by time as Head of Design Technology at a large secondary school. Before becoming a teacher, I worked designing safety systems for a wide range of industries, from food to oil and nuclear. I also worked for a number of years as a furniture designer and maker.

Roles at School
I am happy to be responsible for the setting up and running of the Design Technology department at Saint Ronan’s. I am also very pleased with the work the pupils have achieved so far and am looking forward to introducing Computer-Aided Design, with a laser cutter, which will allow the pupils to produce some very exciting projects. We are also installing a metal brazing hearth and crucible to cast aluminium and bronze. The DT Club is working on rebuilding the school go-karts and we have other projects that we hope will get off the ground (literally!).

Away from the Classroom
I enjoy restoring old motorcycles and building new ones. I have rather too many 'projects' at the moment and dream of actually being able to walk around my workshop. I race in vintage motocross events and have recently started walking with my family and friends. I also own what is, by universal acknowledgement, the worst mobile phone ever made and the poorest selection of music ever collected on one iPod.
