Moving on from Saint Ronan's
Saint Ronan’s offers both access to the full range of senior schools and independent advice on which school might best suit your child. The Headmaster, who was formerly a Housemaster at Stowe, meets with all parents, usually when their children are rising ten, to discuss options for the future and this is the start of an on going dialogue. He has written for the Good School’s Guide on the subject of choosing schools.
The Headmaster makes a point of regularly visiting senior schools and inviting senior school staff to Saint Ronan’s to meet parents. He has, as have other key members of staff (for example the Head of Art or the Director of Music), built up a good understanding of the schools to which we regularly send children. He serves on the Governing Board of two Public Schools and keeps abreast of the issues facing secondary schools.
Saint Ronan’s prepares children for 13+ entry. A few children move on at 11+ but this is unusual and we do not offer coaching for the Kent 11+ exam. Typically two-thirds of the children stay in the private sector whilst the remaining third move on mainly to Cranbrook. Typically just over half of our leavers move on to full boarding.
A strength of the School is the breadth and quality of senior schools to which we send pupils.
