Poppies of Remembrance

Find out more below

Many thanks to the pupils (and the Art Department) who made the ceramic poppies that are now on display outside the Alms Houses in Hawkhurst. Each of the 88 poppies represents the 88 men from Hawkhurst who died during WW1.

The poppies mark part of our own acts of remembrance, together with the village of Hawkhurst. Midway and Upper pupils have also written ‘letters from the trenches’ and we have lent historic military artefacts from the Tongswood Estate which can be viewed in the Hawkhurst Branch of the Royal British Legion.
